Christmas Gift Suggestions

When buying gifts for friends and loved ones this Christmas, don’t forget gifts with a specifically Christian character. Fr Steve and Fr Luke have come up with suggestions to help you shop for those on your list.

The Transfiguration

  • Icons by Ivanka Demchuk (Fr Steve and Fr Luke)
We are both quite fond of these icons by Ukrainian artist Ivanka Demchuk. Printed on canvas, these icons contain traditional elements expressed in a moving, contemporary style. Most are priced around $80 and ship from Ukraine from her Etsy store.

  • Sheen Rosaries (Fr Steve)
Sheen Rosaries sells handmade rosaries that feel natural in the hand and come with a lifetime guarantee. Fr Steve prays the “Padre” rosary and has taken it around the world. These rosaries are elegant and rugged. Reasonably priced at around $40, they will last for years and years.

  • Little Saints by Legacy Icons (Fr Luke)
These icons are perfect for children. $6 each and made of maple wood, they come with a prayer on the back and can handle hands-on prayer!

  • Stella and Tide Jewelry (Fr Luke)
These handcrafted pieces are mostly under $50 and are elegant and holy reminders of our life in Christ.

  • Papier D'Armenie Traditional Burning Papers (Fr Steve and Fr Luke)
Walk into Fr Steve’s office on any given day and you will likely smell incense. He’s not burning the church incense, but a piece of paper. Parishioner Henry Wrobel introduced these burning papers to him and they are absolutely wonderful for homes, and offices. The perfect stocking stuffer. $31 for a set of six booklets.

  • Mass Quiet Book (Fr Luke)
$38. This wonderful plush book guides younger readers through the mass, without making a sound!

  • Divine Worship: Daily Office (Fr Steve)
£50 (or around $60). Even though this is published by the Catholic Truth Society, it is completely Anglican. Containing Morning and Evening Prayer, the Psalms, and readings for every office, it also has the little offices of Prime, Terce, Sext, None, Compline, Office of the Dead, Itinerary, Devotions and Prayers before and after Communion, and more. It is as close to a complete volume of daily prayer as one can get.

  • My Book of the Church’s Year (Fr Steve and Fr Luke)
$12.95. Enid Chadwick was a wonderful artist based in Walsingham, England. She painted much of the interior of the Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. This book of her illustrations is perhaps the best journey through the church year. Fr Steve spent years looking for original copies for his children to give them. This reprint is vibrant in color and best of all - available.

  • St Augustine’s Prayer Book (Fr Steve)
$30. A complete devotional book originally published by the Order of the Holy Cross, this reprint contains devotions and teaching aids that had formed generations.
