Music for February 15

Our anthem for Quinquagesima is “How beautiful upon the mountains” by English composer and organist John Stainer (1840-1901). The text is from Isaiah 52:7 and states: “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” The choir will also sing Psalm 2 to an Anglican chant by English composer and organist James Turle (1802-1882).
