Music for November 16

This Sunday’s choral anthem is the African-American spiritual “Steal Away,” arranged by Patrick Dupré Quigley and featuring baritone Eric Powell. Its refrain—“Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus. Steal away, steal away home. I ain’t got long to stay here”—offers solace and hope in challenging times. The service will open with the organ voluntary “Adoration” by Florence B. Price, the first African-American woman to gain recognition as a symphonic composer and to have her work performed by a major orchestra.
