Music for April 19

For the Third Sunday of Easter, we welcome organist Edwin Walker. Edwin received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, respectively. He studied organ with Donald Kilmer while at Millsaps and also privately with Thomas Froehlich, past long-time organist of First Presbyterian/Dallas. Edwin served as organist in Methodist and Presbyterian congregations starting in 1976, while at Millsaps, until retiring in 2023. He moved to Winston-Salem in 2024, and has enjoyed living in the area and subbing for various churches in the Piedmont Triad area. Edwin is also a Certified Court Reporter (stenographic method) in Texas and covers remote depositions in Texas cases on a part-time basis. We also thank our staff singer Carla Bowers for her direction of the choir today.
