Music for December 7

For the Second Sunday of Advent, the choir will be singing Thomas A. Dorsey’s “Peace in the valley,” arranged by Larry Shackley. Originally written for Mahalia Jackson, the lyrics draw inspiration from this Sunday’s Old Testament lesson from Isaiah 11: “The bear will be gentle, and the wolf will be tame, and the lion shall lay down by the lamb, and the beast from the wild shall be led by a child, and I'll be changed from the creature that I am.”

Please come back on Sunday at 6pm to hear this anthem and many others for our annual Service of Advent Lessons & Carols. The choir will be joined by organist Susan Keck Foster and violinist Charley Shafer, and a reception will follow.
