Music for May 3
For the Fifth Sunday of Easter, the choir will sing a setting of “King of glory, King of peace,” arranged by Robert Matthews. The text and tune will be familiar as Hymn 382, a favorite of Fr. Steve’s. The text is a devotional poem by George Herbert (1593–1633), an English priest and poet of the Church of England, whose writings reflect a deeply personal and expressive faith. The tune, General Seminary, is by David Charles Walker (1938–2018), an American priest, chaplain, organist, and composer who studied at the General Theological Seminary in New York.y.
